For its new home, Sun Youth chose to build a carbon-neutral facility that reflects the organization's core values. A timber structure emerged as the natural choice, offering a sustainable, locally sourced, and renewable solution for the premises of a community-focused organization deeply rooted in its environment.
The design team's decision to incorporate a suspended gymnasium presented significant challenges in both engineering and construction. The gymnasium's structural beams span an impressive 27 metres (90 feet), requiring innovative design and installation approaches.
