Chantiers Chibougamau designs and manufactures mass timber modules for residential, institutional, and industrial buildings. From supplying modules to delivering turnkey projects as a general contractor, we tailor our scope of work and level of finish to each project’s needs.
Our scope of work can range from supplying modules to delivering the entire project as a general contractor. We can oversee architectural, structural, and building mechanical design, material procurement, and factory fabrication, then coordinate all construction activities through to delivery of the completed building.
For turnkey projects, our scope includes excavation, foundations, and installation of the modules onto the foundations, either directly from the trucks or using a crane. We also carry out on-site connections, complete the building’s interior and exterior finishes, and perform grading, landscaping, and site development work.
We can supply cross-laminated timber (CLT) shells, allowing on-site connections and finishing work to be completed in a weather-protected environment, or fully factory-finished modules, including paint, flooring, furnishings, and building mechanical systems. A range of intermediate options is also available, with the level of finish tailored to each project’s specific needs and the work planned on site.
The rigidity of our mass timber modules allows us to achieve a level of factory finishing approaching 100%, while minimizing damage during transport and installation. This structural stability helps protect the finishes, furnishings, and mechanical systems already installed in the factory, preserving completed work and reducing the need for touch-ups and additional finishing once the modules are in place.
Wood processing, structural design, and modular manufacturing are all part of a single, integrated value chain. This integration brings design and production teams together to closely coordinate material selection, assembly details, and manufacturing requirements, while taking into account installation needs and the remaining work to be completed on site.
We work with nonprofit organizations, private developers, and public and broader public sector clients, including municipalities, ministries, government agencies, healthcare and education networks, and Crown corporations. We tailor our scope of work to each project’s needs and the client’s preferred division of responsibilities.
