PNE Freedom Mobile Arch

Vancouver
British Columbia

Rising above Vancouver's Pacific National Exhibition (PNE), the Freedom Mobile Arch is one of North America's most ambitious mass timber structures. Sweeping glulam arches supporting a CLT roof span 105 metres (345 feet) across the 10,000-seat amphitheatre, creating a column-free, open-air venue with uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape.

The structure's three-point radial geometry comprises 60 glulam arches assembled from 180 individual segments, many of which were fabricated at unique angles. Because the segments needed to be shipped in installation sequence, they could not all be machined in a single setup. Instead, custom jigs were created and adjusted by hand throughout fabrication to achieve the precise geometry required for each segment.
