Chibougamau-Chapais Airport

Chibougamau, Quebec

The new Chibougamau-Chapais terminal replaces the former building which was obsolete. With a footprint totalizing 1,160 m2 (12,450 sq.ft.), the project boasts a unique feature: post-tensioned CLT panels. They allow for a 12.3 m (40 ft) span above the passengers seating area. Both timber and steel bracing systems are used to withstand lateral efforts. Timber sourced from the local boreal forest is transformed in our Chibougamau manufacturing plant, located a few kilometers away from the terminal, making the building material as locally sourced as possible.
