Engineer – Project Manager (Montréal)

Engineer – Technical Support (Montréal / Toronto)

Your Challenge –  As Technical Support Lead, you are responsible for the leadership and quality of all technical support and engineering activities related to Nordic's Engineered Wood Products (EWP).

 

The role involves overseeing and approving engineering calculations and installation drawings prepared by our distributors across multiple provinces, while contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices through the development of technical documentation, engineering tools and technical solutions tailored to the North American market.

 

Recognized as a trusted technical resource, the successful candidate demonstrates rigor, sound judgment and leadership while delivering a high level of customer service. Attention to detail, a proactive approach and the ability to manage complex technical and operational situations are essential qualities for this position.

 

Role and Responsibilities – The successful candidate will be responsible for all technical support activities, including:

  • Providing technical support and product expertise to customers, distributors and designers;
  • Reviewing and sealing engineering calculations and installation drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and standards;
  • Ensuring the company's regulatory compliance by managing required provincial certificates of authorization and permits to practice;
  • Proposing technical solutions and providing repair details for products;
  • Assisting in the resolution of technical issues, particularly those arising on construction sites;
  • Participating in site visits to ensure product quality and compliance;
  • Guiding, mentoring and supporting the technical development of the internal team;
  • Developing, maintaining and improving technical documentation and engineering tools;
  • Conducting strategic monitoring of products, competitors and market practices;
  • Preparing test plans and writing technical letters and reports when required;
  • Maintaining and developing strong relationships with customers, subcontractors (engineering and software providers) and regulatory authorities;
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations tailored to various audiences;
  • Providing exemplary, responsive and solution-oriented customer service.

 

Your Profile – A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering, or Construction Engineering and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience are required, ideally in the engineered wood products industry or the construction sector.

 

Strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service are key attributes for this position. Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written, is essential.

 

Success in this role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, initiative and autonomy. The ability to learn quickly and work effectively in an environment that demands flexibility and the management of diverse situations is equally important.

 

Required qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license (P.Eng. / ing.), eligible to obtain licensure in other Canadian provinces.
  • Have experience interpreting and applying building codes and engineering design standards.
  • Be proficient with calculation tools, particularly Microsoft Excel, as well as CAD and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
  • Knowledge of Python or a similar programming language is considered an asset for optimizing internal tools.

Engineer – Technical Services (Montréal)

Technical Sales Representative, Engineered Wood Products (U.S.)

Role – The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for actively promoting the company, its products and services to key stakeholders in various engineered wood products (EWP) distribution networks as well as the engineering and architectural sectors. He or she will establish and maintain strategic relationships to generate new business opportunities and close major transactions for the supply of engineered wood products in residential construction.

 

Responsibilities – Nordic Structures is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join a growing team and contribute to the success of a Canadian company. Primary responsibilities include business development and sales.

 

Business Development:

  • Serve as a main point of contact for distributors and retailers.
  • Advance and maintain a strong corporate-level network within the building, engineering and architecture sectors.
  • Identify market trends and growth opportunities to support the company’s manufacturing expansion.
  • Participate in industry events, select the best outreach venues with the highest ROI potential, and represent the company, its products and services, and its values.
  • Prepare and deliver formal and informal presentations tailored to various audiences.
  • Provide technical support and product knowledge to clients and designers.
  • Maintain strategic awareness of competitors and market positioning.

 

Sales:

  • Identify new business opportunities and drive sales growth in existing and emerging markets in North America.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle independently, from prospecting to closing.
  • Lead contract negotiations, handle objections, and secure agreements.
  • Prepare and provide sales reports, forecasts, and feedback.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.

 

Profile Sought – The ideal candidate is a self-driven professional, a rigorous and proactive person, and a team player, with the following prerequisites:

  • Proven experience in business development and/or sales within the building, construction, engineering or architecture industry.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (both formal and impromptu).
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close deals and overcome objections.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Good understanding of market dynamics and competitors.
  • Technical knowledge of building materials.
  • Bilingualism in English/French (an asset).
