Nordic Structures, a leader in structural solutions for wood construction, seeks candidates for the position(s) below. Nordic Structures and its sister company Chantiers Chibougamau invite you to join our team of over 700 passionate employees dedicated to innovating with and converting wood from certified Quebec forests. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The Challenge
With strong office management skills and excellent time management skills, the successful candidate will ensure the organizational efficiency of our office. The successful candidate will be multiskilled and able to provide assistance with all administrative tasks, as well as tasks relating to relaying information, management, finance, marketing, human resources, and commercial relations.

 

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • organize the office (including establishing and updating office procedures), manage databases, order stationery, etc.;
  • manage correspondence and respond to various requests;
  • be highly proficient in and use IT management tools such as file servers, business intelligence (BI) software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, etc.;
  • prepare letters, presentations, and reports;
  • assist personnel with the development of marketing tools, the sale of products and services, the execution of projects, and other business activities;
  • liaise with personnel, suppliers, and clients;
  • assist Human Resources by updating personnel files, organizing interviews, and onboarding new employees; and
  • organize meetings, events, and conferences by preparing materials and equipment and arranging transportation and accommodation as needed.

 

Requirements
The successful candidate will be diligent, professional, and efficient, with excellent French and English communication skills. He or she will hold a technical degree and have a least two (2) years’ relevant experience in a position involving a wide range of administrative tasks and decisions. In addition, the successful candidate will be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and dynamic. He or she will show initiative, be flexible, and be willing to go the extra mile to assist personnel and clients. People skills are a key element of this position.

ENGINEERING DRAFTSPERSON

 

Responsibilities
Create assembly drawings for the construction of wood buildings; create shop drawings for parts manufacturing; assist project managers with the preparation of plans and specifications; perform analysis and estimation for components; offer technical support for the application and implementation of products; and perform other related tasks.

 

Requirements
Degree in building design, architectural technology, or civil engineering technology; minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience; ability to read plans and perform calculations for structural elements; advanced knowledge of design software; good verbal and written communication skills; resourcefulness and dependability; and organizational skills.

ESTIMATOR

The Challenge
With significant knowledge of the construction industry and project estimation, the successful candidate will estimate the costs of projects by conducting tender administration; identifying necessary tenderers, purchases, and subcontracting; managing addenda; assessing construction and contingency costs; and reviewing and closing tenders. The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret plans and specifications.

 

Profile
The successful candidate will be thorough, self-reliant, and meticulous, with excellent communication skills. He or she will hold a technical degree in construction estimating, civil engineering technology, or architectural technology, and have a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience, including quantity take-offs and the estimation of large-scale projects. He or she will be highly proficient in AutoCAD and very familiar with construction laws and regulations in Quebec.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Responsibilities
Design and develop wood building construction projects, including plans and specifications, design notes, and assembly design; solve design-related technical problems; and develop innovative, high-performance structural solutions.

 

Requirements
University-level engineering degree and a minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience, in-depth technical knowledge of building structures, familiarity with applicable laws and regulations, thoroughness, and conscientiousness.
