Northfield Mount Hermon Gilder Center

Gill, Massachusetts

The 42,000-square-foot Gilder Center at Northfield Mount Hermon School, MA, was designed to be the most sustainable building on campus. Local slate and granite were selected for the building housing maths and science departments, creating an iconic landmark at the intersection of classical and contemporary design. The timber-steel structural system allows for exposed wood ceilings and further reduces the building’s carbon footprint. Upper levels offer breathtaking views on the surrounding nature, fostering a stimulating learning environment for students.
