George Brown College - Limberlost Place

Toronto, ON

Limberlost Place is a 10-storey mass timber-steel hybrid building located in East Bayfront in Toronto, Ontario. As an integral part of George Brown College's waterfront campus, this academic tower exemplifies net-zero carbon design, housing various student learning spaces and common rooms. The building's distinctive architecture not only contributes to the redefinition of the Toronto skyline but also showcases innovative features. Notably, the first of it's kind, it employs a CLT-Concrete composite floor system that utilizes kerf plates to engage the composite action. The building boasts a remarkable mass timber pedestrian bridge that connects the existing and new structures and several columns uninterrupted over 3 storeys, adding to the building's unique aesthetic.
